Congenital Heart Disease - CHD

Hello I am Katie I'm 17 and was born with a heart defect called Hypoplastic right heart syndrome I had my first heart surgery at 3 days old (BT shunt) and had my open heart surgery at 4 years old (Fontan)  my last heart surgery was when I was 10 they closed the hole in my heart. Now I am being an advocate for CHD and helping with what I can to help raise awareness to congenital heart disease and give hope to the parents and kids that a 17 year old girl made it :)

You can get in touch with me and follow my Congenital Heart Disease blog here

My name is Chancey and I was born with Transposition of great arteries, pulmonary atresia, n ventricular septal defect. I had my first surgery at 7 days old, my second at 3 years old, and my last was at 13. I'm 19 right now and everything is doing good. I don't feel any different, the only thing that makes me look different is the scar on my chest. But that is what makes me, me:)

I was born with Tetralogy of Fallot. I had a Potts shunt at 14 months, Blalock-Taussig shunt at 5 years, full compensation at 18 years, and a redo of the surgery I had at 18, 5 years ago, at the age of 52. I have looked on the scars on my torso as badges of courage. I became an RN, specializing in cardiac care, and know that my personal experiences only allowed me to give better care to my patients and their families.
