"Thanks for writing the book...I can't tell you how many times I said that's me in the book..." -Leon [re: Barefoot in November]

Thanks for writing the book. I'm day 4 post op and hope to go home tomorrow. I picked up the book and meandered through it for the past two months and finished it 2 weeks ago on vacation.   I can't tell you how many times I said that's me in the book.  I'm a 43 year old dad of two no medical issues and late in December 2010 pow my life changes.   We had very similar issues.  I had an ascending aneurism up through the bottom of the arch.  The valve was spared.  I had mine done at UPenn and Considered NYPres Cornell because we are from the NYC area as well.  We came to UPenn for  genetic testing and met the surgeon while we were here.  All great men and good at what they do.  You just need to find your guy!

I just re-read the day of and the next few days now that I have been through it.  (first time I had one eye open) What an experience.  You hit it the nail on the head when you spoke about the nursing staff.  Love them all and really admire the work they do.

Best of luck to you and your family and good luck with the book a must read.

Hi Leon,
Thanks for the kind words. Sounds like you are definitely a Heartosaurus! It does my soul good to know how directly the book impacted you. It sounds like my intentions were right on. You are right about having to just "find your guy". For me it was Dr. Stewart. There are lots of great surgeons out there, but I'm happy to hear that you also found yourself a Heartosaurus. Please share your surgeons name and add anything else about him, the nurses, or hospital so that other's might benefit from it.

Now seize the day! Your 2nd life has just begun -- start living it!
